PREFACE
The dawn of every new year lends itself to:
* self-criticism, soul searching, reviews and introspection but also to
* setting of new objectives, compilation of new plans, route changes etc.
It’s the power of the new that fascinates us!
It’s the unbearable burden of the old that we need to jettison!
This procedure is perpetual and unluckily fruitless and repeated in vain for most of us.
But should we abandon hope?
For no reason!
The absolute success criterion is…
The effectiveness in handling situations arising on a daily basis.
These situations can be roughly classified in three main groups:
A. The situations which are under our full control.
These can be confronted with own resources especially if we possess the right physical, spiritual and mental weaponry .
B. These for which the assistance of our social surroundings is desirable or even essential.
Help from other people presupposes:
- Mutuality
- Participation
- Accessibility
- Exit from the sphere of Ego (more in the 2nd part).
C. Uncontrollable situations emerging from unanticipated facts and concurrences.
The best weapon against these situations is a consistent, optimistic and fighting attitude towards life (more in the 2nd part also)
These concise articles are a personal contribution to the collective effort to brighten our future.
WE AND OURSELVES
Man entity consists of three components:
- soul
- mind
- body.
Just neglect one of these and you will see great imbalances in your life.
The mind needs knowledge and study.
The soul needs a solid system of principles.
Lastly, the body is their residence and their vehicle as well.
Render to each of them the significance it deserves without falling prey to exaggerations.
To be more effective in everyday situations handling, just pay the necessary attention to the following points:
1. Don’t procrastinate.
Make quick decisions based on existing information. Just make the first step. Indecisiveness paralyses!
2. “Preventing is better than curing”: Hippocrates.
Do a nice job from the beginning. Endless corrections will bring inquietude and loss of valuable time.
3. Don’t wrong yourself by setting low expectations for him.
4. In older times we should quicken our step. Later, we had to run faster. Now we must learn to make leaps or – why not ? – to fly!
5. Renounce the roll of the spectator! Don’t stand there watching the facts happening! Create the facts!
6. If you cannot influence certain circumstances, just don’t lose your valuable time. Use it wisely and fruitfully for attainable objectives!
7. Thinking is the source, action is the river and results are the fruits.
To satisfy your hunger, you need both of them.
To eat lavishly you need to find the right proportion besides.
8. When you have a clear objective, you will find the means. Never underestimate yourself with cheap excuses.
9. If you set objectives, you know where you are heading to. Otherwise you may end up in a dead end, near a cliff or making circles around yourself.
10. Search for the most effective and convenient way to set priorities.
11. When you are doing a task, be dedicated to it with all your heart. This task must be for you the center of the world for all the time it lasts.
12. Draw lessons from the past, make plans for the future but don’t forget that you are living in the present.
13. Become zealots of lifelong learning. Nowadays, knowledge is devalued at a frenetic pace.
14. Perfection is a charming concept but very dangerous as well. While aiming at perfectionism, the others will outmarch you, advancing through their imperfections.
Life is not perfect.
The world is not perfect.
Why should you be?
15. Always try to expand your limits. Every month, every week, every day set a new personal record. Human potential is limitless.
16. Never let past mistakes trammel your future prospects. Learn from them, but leave them in the past – where they belong – and go ahead!
